Yep it is true. We have so much more to do that we need more people to help us. We just added a page to the website with a small description of the kind of person we are looking for. Here it is:

Do you know everything there is to know about PHP and MySQL and maybe even Javascript? Are you capable of working by yourself, hard to distract and stressproof? Do you like to find bugs, even in your own software?

Please include a short history of what you have done, how old you are, what kind of education you have had and what your hobbies are. We are also interested in any projects or websites you have worked on.

Communicating with our users and bloggers is a very important thing while developing our service. We spend a lot of time on commenting on blogs about fleck, mailing with users that have questions and talking to people about how we can improve the service and or usability of fleck.

A lot of this communication between users, bloggers and us goes via email. That is not surprisingly, because email is a very useful, handy and efficient way to communicate. We had several requests and invitations from users or bloggers to meet them in real life and discuss things face to face. We love to meet new people and we sure like we like to meet our users and bloggers as well. This is why we came up with “Fleck Users and Bloggers Beer” (FUBB party).

The Concept is simple:

Every time we visit a city we will organize a small get together with users and bloggers of Fleck. Just to talk about the internet, fleck and other important things in life. We will answer (almost) all your questions, so people can get an insider look on fleck. We try to bring some small Fleck goodies as well.

So if your interested in Fleck or already a fleck user and you want to meet the founders, just join a FUBB party (if we’re in the neighborhood).

Where? Well most of the times we will be in a public place (bar or restaurant), but FUBB parties can also take place on a conference or event or at someones home. We will scedule all FUBBs on upcoming

Tonight Arjen gave us the green light to open Fleck for Internet Explorer.

We have been testing Fleck on Internet Explorer for a while now and it looks good. As you might know Internet Explorer doesn’t support transparant PNGs which means that I had to redesign and redraw most of the images for Explorer. Arjen had to rewrite a lot of functions and javascript and then there were lots of CSS issues too. But everything seems fine now.

If you use Internet Explorer please give Fleck a try and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or suggestions. We like feedback!

Since we launched the website and Firefox version in New York on the 16th we have been working on the Internet Explorer version of Fleck. A lot of people have emailed me asking when it would be available and why it is taking so long. I thought I’d explain a bit how this works.

Internet Explorer isn’t that different from Firefox but it does differ in a number of important ways. One thing that makes it very hard to develop for Explorer is that Javascript is very poorly supported and that error feedback is limited.

In  Firefox we get a clear error when something goes wrong with a hint of where the error might be. Explorer just gives up, crashes or just sits there doing nothing.

The good news is that we don’t actually have to rewrite everything. We just have to adapt our code to Explorer. This isn’t rocket science but tedious and detailed work which always takes longer than you think. So Arjen is currently coding, reloading and restarting Explorer a lot.
