Small Improvements: Mail

When you share a Flecked page with someone via email they receive a message with a special URL in it. That message didn’t look very friendly. Today we spend some time in making it more descriptive and intuitive for people receiving it.

We are also working on more spectaculair things but sometimes it just feels good to change a few important things, right away.

Hope you notice this improvement and enjoy it.

Poll: Fleck New Features?

Fleck is about democracy so please let us know which features you would like to see first in Fleck. You can also add features yourself. I will move this poll to the sidebar later so it will stay there for a while as we continue to add features.

Which new features should we add first?

Fleck on Opera and Flock

Browser wars?We are back from Paris and today we want to test a few new browsers with Fleck.

Flock
If you have Flock you can download the Fleck-Flock extension. Let us know how it works and what you see and what isn’t working for you.

Opera
Opera should be working fine at the end of the day. Robert noticed a problem with saving the notes which he is working on now but besides that it seems to work. We won’t offer an Extension for Opera yet but at least you will be able to use Fleck from Fleck.com or use the Bookmarklet.

Safari
I also received a few (several!) requests for Fleck on Safari. Safari gives us a lot of trouble with Javascript. I don’t know if we will be able to fix everything this week but it should work as soon as possible. I use a MacBook Pro myself and use both Firefox and Safari so please don’t think that Safari isn’t importan for us. I don’t even think that the fact that Safari has a smaller footprint in the browser market makes it less important. It isn’t important whether a lot of people use but which people use it. Are those people Bloggers, journalist and early adopters who would love to use Fleck? Then we need to offer Fleck on Safari.

Other browsers or platforms
If there are any browsers that we are forgetting please let us know in the comments here. We want to make Fleck as compatible as possible and if it isn’t working well in your browser we want to hear about it.

Fleck Straight To Your Blog With Fleck!

WordPress! We couldn’t come to Les Blogs/Le Web 3 empty handed so today we present a new and important new feature. If you use Fleck now you will be able to blog straight from the Fleck interface to your blog.

In theory at least! You do need a WordPress blog and you need to know your username and password. We will add support for Blogger, Typepad and other platforms too as soon as possible.

This is how it works: Fleck any page on the web and then click the “Blog” button. There you will have to supply the address of your blog and your password and username. You will then be able to write a blog post and your Flecked page URL will be inserted automatically in your blog.

Fleck remembers your data for you and you can enter the address of several blogs. You can select the blog you want to post too from a drop down menu.

Give it a try and let us know how it works for you!

We are hiring…

Yep it is true. We have so much more to do that we need more people to help us. We just added a page to the website with a small description of the kind of person we are looking for. Here it is:

Fleck.com could use some help. Are you living in Amsterdam or near Amsterdam and would you like to work full time in a good karma small team at unreasonable hours? Do you know everything there is to know about PHP and MySQL and maybe even Javascript? Are you capable of working by yourself, hard to distract and stressproof? Do you like to find bugs, even in your own software?

Then why not contact us?

Please include a short history of what you have done, how old you are, what kind of education you have had and what your hobbies are. We are also interested in any projects or websites you have worked on.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
