User Testimonial: computer teacher

We receive a lot of messages from people who are happily using Fleck. Often I forward these around the office and for the next site we are planning on having a whole section of user testimonials because we are often surprised at the different ways that people use Fleck.

Today I got this great letter from Kelly Tenkely who is a k-5 Computer Teacher:

I just wanted to say a BIG Thank You for Fleck! I am a computer teacher and Fleck has made my life so much easier! I absolutely love being able to Fleck pages for my students so that they can be self guided through lessons. It is amazing. Having 26 students at once makes it hard for me to answer individual questions, especially after I have already given directions…Fleck has cut way down on the questions because they can see what they need to do. It is like having me sitting right there next to them

She even wrote a review on Fleck on ilearntechnology.com.

If you use Fleck and like it please let us know so we can show these letters here and link to you.

Fleck.com named ‘Site of the Day’ on Red Orbit

Fleck.com has been named Site of the Day at Red Orbit! We received this great honor on 10/27/2007. I’m not sure how much traffic this generated but it feels good anyway.

Check it out:

Bowlr Training

Timing

On January 31, 2008 we are hosting the Dutch Bowlr event here in Amsterdam. We don’t have much experience with bowling so we decided to practice a little bit today.

Bowling is actually pretty much fun and we are even more excited than before about the Bowlr event!

Fleck Promotion: A standard you follow, or not…

Yesterday a new Dutch company announced that they will launch a PayPal competitor in November. The founder of the company is Adriaan Mol which is an old friend and partner.

In the interview he was asked about his plans for promotion. He casually mentioned “Well, I’m NOT planning on wearing a white suit like Boris and visiting all kinds of parties in San Francisco”.

Apparently this is very newsworthy because the first paragraph of almost every article about this new company starts with this quote about Fleck Marketing!

We at Fleck are all very happy to be mentioned (my name, our marketing strategy + our company name) in the press release of another company which will soon launch. From now on we hope it will be a standard question that will be asked to EVERY new company announcing their plans:

“Will or Will you NOT promote your company in the same manner as Fleck.com did with their white suits”

Updated Fleck Logo

When I heard that Arjen was working on a new version of the Fleck logo I couldn’t help but worry. I like the old logo a lot and wasn’t ready to say goodbye to it. But this morning Arjen showed me what he did and I was just very happy!

He took the old logo and upgraded it with just a very subtle shade of grey in the white area. This is a very nice improvement and it just shows that to improve things you don’t necessarily have to throw out all the old stuff.

The new logo is also less pink and more red. This gives it a slightly more serious feel.

My favorite changes are incremental changes.

This is the ‘old’ Fleck logo:

And this is the updated Fleck logo:

What do YOU think?

Need an excuse to buy an iPhone?

Patrick & Scott Rafer @ FOWAPatrick came up with a brilliant way to demonstrate the new version of Fleck. He uses his iPhone and a bunch of images he imported with iTunes and then flips through the presentation while occasionally ‘pinching’ in or out.

The resolution and brightness of the iPhone makes it a great presentation device. It is also a lot sexier and more convenient than lugging around a laptop with Powerpoint.

Last week Patrick and Arjen roamed the halls at FOWA in London and everybody who was interested got their personal iPhone Fleck 2.0 demo. In the photo you can see Scott Rafer enjoying the presentation.

So what do YOU think his words were the exact moment the photo was made?

a: “Aha, so THAT is why I should buy an iPhone!”
b: “Oh shit, I think I left something on the stove!”
c: “Wow, Fleck is just the coolest thing EVER!”
d: “I’m going to shave my beard off and glue it to my forehead”

Looking forward to your guesses in the comments.
